Literacy Centers!

Fun in Kindergarten!

This week we started math centers!  They did a great job working in teams to complete the activities.  We continued learning about numbers 0-5. Please practice writing numbers 0-5.  We will have a test next week!

We also started science lessons and learned about making observations.

We had Pajama Day for earning 10 golden tickets for HERO behavior. Keep up the good work!

Today we shared learning boxes! Things to store in the box-- sight words, ABC flashcards number flashcards and the little tan readers that come home on Friday.  Students should practice some of the activities in the box on the nights we do not have homework (or when they tell you they are bored- lol).

Week 2!

We are very busy this week!  We are learning about letters Aa-Hh. We are learning to identify them and we are learning the sounds they make.  We are reading and writing sight words- I, am.  This Friday will be the first weekly language arts test.  Please review it with your child over the weekend, sign it and return it Monday. 

In math we are learning about numbers 0-5.  Tomorrow we will start math centers!

Homework started this week.  Please make sure your child completes the homework neatly.  All writing should be done with a pencil and coloring should be done with crayon.

We started kid writing last week.  Everyone is doing a wonderful job writing in their new journals.  Please encourage your child to write at home!

Our First Week!

We had a wonderful first week in Kindergarten.  I would say that everyone is adjusting well and settling down into our routines.  Next week we will get started with our core Language Art and Math curriculum.  This weekend please review letters Aa & Bb and sight words (I, am).  Continue to have your child practice writing his/her name. First Day!

We are off to a great start!  We had a very busy day full of learning the school rules and classroom routines.  We also read a lot of fun stories, talked about colors and played outside.  Please check your child's folder to see all of the work we did today.  Ask your child to tell you about the story we read--The Kissing Hand.  Enjoy the pictures!
